This efficient urban kitchen with an eat-in dining room, mixes modern with select vintage pieces. It features an inviting blend of European modern and Danish mid-Century design. A herb garden, built into the windowed sink backsplash, brings the outdoors in for a couple that cooks with the seasons. A high-performance Bertazzoni appliance package put their passion for cooking front and center.White graphical mosaic tile and easy care laminate countertops with natural oak detailing, are nostalgic details inspired by the owner's grandparents' Swiss summer home. A round dining table anchors the dining room, paired with vintage Bruno Rey chairs, handed down from generations' past.

This room was inspired by the calming tones of winter.  A palette of whites and neutrals is offset by warm stone, woods and metals.  The tones are subtle to highlight the beautiful outdoor view.  Warmth is added through natural textural fabrics and materials.  Organic fibers and clean low chemicals products were chosen for this growing family of four.

A kitchen in a 1907 house was stripped of all character and interest. We wanted to bring back in the textures, colors and nostalgic charm fitting of a house from that time. In this small footprint, we also had to get creative with the layout and add storage wherever possible. And without being able to move the existing range/hood location on the window wall, we wanted to make that the showpiece with the Smeg Portofino Olive Green Range and Hood. The result is a modern and functional kitchen with quaint and historic charm.

This living room was designed with the beach in mind. Large corner glass doors slide open to a corner balcony with a view of the Pacific Ocean. Inside, the tonal beige and gray color palette along with the warm white oak millwork brings a sense of ease and calm, especially when mixed with the ocean breeze. The fireplace and clerestory windows, although contemporary in their design, makes the space feel like home. Bringing in natural light to the space, while accentuating the ocean views and still maintaining privacy from nearby neighbors was a crucial design feature in this beach property.

With a formal dining room that they never used, the client wanted to transform the space into a statement-making moody lounge perfect for martinis and conversation.  Incorporating custom cabinetry with inset mesh antiqued mirror and brass bistro shelving, it gives a true bar feel with both form and function. This kitchen was inspired by keeping in touch with the original craftsman architecture of the home while sprinkling in some modern touches. It's a functionally designed kitchen for a growing family who loves design, color, and hosting.\nUtilizing some of the client's existing appliances, unique materials (soapstone counters, star-shaped clay tile flooring) we created a unique kitchen that nods to the historic geometric designs of the era. This city kitchen was small in footprint but big in design efficiency, with custom cabinetry, thoughtful storage solutions, and beautiful textural design statements.

This contemporary coastal kitchen features expansive windows, warm wood cabinetry and two-tone countertops that together, create an indoor-outdoor living experience that is warm and inviting yet sophisticated. The design is meant to focus the gaze on the sweeping views of the Pacific Coastline, while still creating a functional and efficient open concept kitchen and dining space.\nThe tall appliances and cabinetry are arranged on one wall to maximize the view, while the low cabinetry bleeds into the dining space to maximize storage. The natural wood floors and cabinetry add warmth to the space while the stone countertops provide texture, contrast and pattern.

Natural elements were included such as clay and Tadelakt  plaster walls which are not only beautiful but help purify the air.  Creating a getaway in the mountains to escape the hustle and bustle of city life created the backdrop for this spa like Primary Bathroom.

This kitchen is a combination of rustic mountain warmth and clean lined architecture.  A palette of whites, neutrals and metals help to define the space and bring the outside world in. The tray ceiling created a focal point.  It is both functional by providing great lighting, yet beautiful in form with hanging slats and pendant lighting. Pay special attention to the custom patina copper hood.  This material was chosen to bring warmth and comfort to the space.

This kitchen was inspired by the clients love of France and their travels to the French Riviera.  The juxtaposition of old and new brings together modern conveniences in an enduring space.  Only healthy materials and finishes were used to provide clean living for chemically sensitive family members.  Note the custom metal windows which offset the reclaimed stone and help bring in the beautiful mountain view. Special attention was made to source all materials with sustainability in mind for the current clients and generations to come.

A young New Yorker bought her first apartment with a fantastic view of Columbus Circle, but an outdated kitchen. She wanted to give the room a fun, fresh facelift on a limited budget. We had custom shaker cabinet doors made for off the shelf Ikea cabinets. Then we added a colorful, graphic backsplash and brass hardware to reflect the client’s personality. Upgraded appliances and a hidden panel-ready dishwasher complete the space.

Jamie came to Broderic Design to renovate her Upper West Side apartment for her growing family. We started out planning to replace the cabinets and counters, but the project grew from there.  We ended up taking out the wall dividing the living room and kitchen to create an open floor plan. We rearranged a few walls in the kitchen to create a walk-in pantry where she can keep all of her kitchen gadgets tucked away. The client is so happy with the light, bright, modern space we created.  We finished just in time for the family to welcome a new baby girl to the family.

A modest bathroom fit for a beach-side Victorian Farmhouse, this design relies on playful tile materials in neutral tones to create a warm inviting atmosphere. The Carrara Marble freestanding vanity and frameless shower enclosure bridge the gap between antique and modern, in order to create a contemporary space that nods to the history of the home.

Packing in interest, style, and high-end function into a small galley-style kitchen. While we were limited in layout, we maximized design. The unique lighting elements, cabinet grills, textured tile, and stone complete with a functional ledge lure you in. The function is there but well hidden with seamless appliance panels, a hidden coffee bar, and even a pantry behind vintage-style wood and glass french doors.

Small But Mighty Kitchen

This kitchen was inspired by a juxtaposition of classic Milanese interiors and modern Italian art and design. It's an efficient layout for a Brooklyn Brownstoner who loves sophisticated detail, vibrant color, and hosting frequent dinner parties.To complement the client's existing furniture, materials typical of 1970s Milanese interiors were chosen (Nero Marquina marble with distinctive veining, brushed brass, stainless steel, and sumptuous color).Since this urban kitchen comes in under 60 square feet, appliances with a petite footprint were selected, including a counter-depth, fully integrated refrigerator/freezer paneled to match the cabinets and a sleek, Italian 30" range.

This kitchen is meant for a coastal home, combining modern sophistication with a laid-back beach vibe.  

The use of light natural oak and white finishes adds a nice contrast to the clients colorful artwork collection.  

The large island, with seating for 4, and the kitchen's open layout provides the perfect gathering space for entertaining a large group or just sitting back and drinking your morning coffee while enjoying the ocean breeze.

The goal for this kitchen remodel was to give a new personality to this simple, unadorned space. We took the lack of character and introduced inspiration from the client's lifestyle. A place where vintage and found objects combined seamlessly within an upgraded space to merge comfort and style. Black painted wood plank cabinetry with vintage brass hardware and honed Arabescato Vagli marble counters is paired with a vintage mango wood freestanding island, to create a juxtaposition between updated and antique. Large cabinet doors cover a pantry system that includes an appliance garage, built-in drawers and additional counter space to maximize the functionality of this small space.

Eclectic Ease

A day at the spa where the client's could relax and recover was the source of inspiration behind this master bathroom. As soon as you enter the space, the light and neutral color palette offers a sense of calm. In the early morning, light streams in from the clerestory windows above the vanity and the sensation of the cool, textured limestone flooring on your bare feet connects you to nature. Minimalism was important in this floor plan, however, the essentials are there—large walk-in shower with a built-in bench, double vanity with storage and a separate toilet room.Lighting was also used strategically to be functional at the vanity, but also to highlight the materiality of the space.
